Jawad M. Towns
Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute
In Jawad's position as Program Coordinator, he is responsible for coordinating the Institute's grant programs and managing communications and marketing efforts. This includes serving as the primary contact for grant applicants, developing public information events concerning grant programs; developing and maintaining websites, electronic newsletters, and other communications; and managing the execution of educational and engagement events.
Prior to joining the Institute's staff in 2012, Towns served as a Community Program Planner in the research and evaluation department (Innovation Group) of NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center—a community health clinic and social service agency in North Minneapolis; he has worked in various capacities at the Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights as well as the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy and as a Constituent Advocate in the office of the late U.S. Senator Paul D. Wellstone. Towns holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a concentration in American Government from Louisiana State University and has been admitted to the University of Minnesota's School of Public Health, Public Health Administration and Policy Program (Fall 2012).
