Jared Walhowe serves as Program Coordinator for the Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute and the Minnesota Food Charter Network. Jared brings to the Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute seven years of experience building strategic partnerships with local nonprofits, schools, and government agencies to improve the quality of food available to the community.
Before joining our team, Jared was the Produce Specialist with The Food Group, where he increased access to fresh fruits and vegetables for over 200 local hunger-relief organizations. In his role, Jared oversaw the Fruits of the City program, the Food Group Farm, Produce Rescue at the Minneapolis Farmers Market, and worked with cities, schools, parks, and congregations to develop publicly accessible gardens and orchards. He built relationships with hundreds of farms, orchards, gardeners, and residential fruit tree owners who regularly donated their extra produce to food shelves and meal programs. Jared's previous roles also include Gleaning Manager at The Minnesota Project as well as managing the operation of the Waite House food shelf in Minneapolis.
As Program Coordinator, Jared will assist in the management of the Minnesota Food Charter Network operations and assist in fund development and management for both the Minnesota Food Charter Network and Health Foods, Healthy Lives Institute
